1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5.a3 Bxc3+ 6.bxc3 Ne7 7.Nf3 Qa5 8.Bd2 Qa4 9.Bd3 Nbc6 10.Be3 c4 11.Be2 f5 A novelty. 11...Bd7 has previously been played in this position.
12.exf6 gxf6 13.O-O Bd7 14.Bf4 O-O-O In view of the way the game developed, maybe Black should have castled kingside.
15.Qd2 Be8 16.Nh4 Ng6 17.Bg3 Nce7 18.Rfb1 Qc6 19.a4 Nf5 After this Black's pawn structure is wrecked and he doesn't develop any real attacking chances. It may have been better to play for ...e5.
20.Nxf5 exf5 21.a5 h5 22.h3 Rd7 23.Rb2 Qe6 24.Bf3 f4 25.Bxf4 Qf5 26.Bg3 Rg7 27.Qc1 Black's king suddenly looks very lonely.
27...Bc6 28.Qb1 Qd7? But now counter-attacking with ...Nh4 might have been a better idea (Bxh4 is met by ...Qxf3). 28...Qd7? is actually the losing move.
29.a6 b5
[29...b6 30.Rxb6 axb6 31.Qxb6 and Black has no defence.]
30.Ra5 Kd8 31.Raxb5 This is a sacrifice in name only. Black cannot survive the onslaught.
31...Bxb5 32.Rxb5 Ne7 33.Rb8+ Nc8 34.Rb7 Rhh7 35.Rxd7+ Rxd7 36.Qb4 Black resigns. A fine attacking game by White.
